FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GNU X-Tools v3.40 now ships with dual hosted Windows and Linux toolsuites
ATLANTA, GA -- January 5, 2005 -- Microcross released GNU X-Tools v3.40 professional embedded development tools for fifteen (15) microprocessor families and now has the product packaged with dual hosted Windows and Linux toolsuites. For the embedded system developer, this means he/she can install the toolsuite on two different host computers and perform cross development on his/her choice operating system (Windows or Linux) at the same cost of a single toolsuite.
GNU X-Tools, now in its fourth release over five years, is setting the benchmark for quality, low-cost, and professional development tools for embedded systems. The GNU X-Tools are based the Free Software Foundation GNU tools; Microcross' value add is in the production of stable releases of GNU tools for professional embedded development. The GNU X-Tools are built, patched, tested, branded and supported by Microcross for dual hosting on Linux and Windows operating systems.
Each toolsuite comes with GCC v3.40 (C/C++ compilers), binutils v2.15 (LD linker, AR archiver, AS assembler, instruction set simulator and other utilities), and Visual GDB debugger (a.k.a Insight) v6.1. Most toolsuites have added support for new processors and stricter conformance to C99 support. Target CPU families supported in GNU X-Tools v3.40 include ARM, AVR, H8300, i386, M32R/D, M6811/12, M68K/ColdFire, M-CORE, MIPS, MIPS64, PowerPC, SPARC, SuperH, V850, and XScale.
Pricing: A single seat of GNU X-Tools is priced at $1,000 each and includes free setup support. Add another $500 and the customer gets the Visual X-Tools IDE. Optional engineering tech support is sold for $1,000 per project for the first year, which includes telephone and email support, GNU X-Tools Training Guide, free upgrades, and access to the Microcross Web Member Support site.
